Holy Trinity (hospitality of Abraham)

Iconography:  Hospitality of Abraham’s (The Old Testament Trinity)

Date: XVI century. The second half of the 16th c.

Origin: From the Сhurch of St. Catherine, Vologda.

Material: Wood, canvas, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 101,2 cm, width 94,4 cm

Three angels are seated around a table throne, set out for a meal. The central angel is flanked by attending Abraham and Sarrah holding a cup. In the bottom part of the icon is the scene of the slaughtering of the sacrificial lamb by a servant.
