Date: XVI century. First half of the 16th c.

Origin: From the church of Andrew "the First-called" Apostle of the Andreevsky pogost near the village Novosyolovo of the Kirzhachsky district.

Material: Wood, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 108 cm, width 78,5 cm

The Pantocrator is depicted enthroned surrounded by the virtues. Sitting on the throne with the semi-circular back and the slanted pediment Christ is attired in the ochroid clothes – chiton and himation with the brown wrinkles and gold hatching. His right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing and his left hand holds an open Gospel book. The figure of the Savior is depicted in the mandorla consisting of the rhombus, the ellipse and the quadrangle put on each other and filled with the depictions of seraphims and cherubs. Near the pediment are depicted so-called “thrones” – fiery wheels with eyes and wings. In the corners of the quadrangle are represented four apocalyptic beasts – the angel, the lion, the calf and the eagle, the symbols of the four evangelists.
