The icon is dedicated to one of the Great Twelve feasts of the Christian calendar – the Epiphany, or the Baptism – a gospel story of the baptizing of Jesus Christ by John the Forerunner in the waters of Jordan. In the center of the icon is the figure of the Savior; in the right margin, in a semi-sphere are seven stars, from which the Lord’s blessing in the shape of a pigeon descends on Christ. To the left of Christ are the inclined angels.
