Reverend Zosimus and Sabbatius of Solovki, with scenes from their lives

Origin: from the Trinity church in the village of Nyonoks, Archangelskaya region (1727-1729)

Material: Wood, cut-back central portion, canvas, levkas, tempera

Dimensions:  height 141 cm, width 118,5 cm

Reverend Zosimus and Sabbatius of Solovki are represented full-length, in prayer to the Mother of God of the Sign.
Border scenes:
1. Reverend Sabbatius and Germanus settle down on the island Solovki;
2. The angels swish the wife of the fisherman that settled down there;
3. The hegumen Nathaniel gives reverend Sabbatius Communion on the river Vyg;
4. The death of reverend Sabbatius;
5. Reverend Zosimus and Germanus come to island Solovki;
6. Apparition to reverend Zosimus of the very beautiful church;
7. Reverend Zosimus being tempted by the devils;
8. The angels bring reverend Zosimus bread, flour and butter;
9. Germanus returns to the monastery;
10. Reverend Zosimus being ordained hegumen;
11. Miracle of the prosphora;
12. The transfer of the relics of reverend Sabbatius from the river Vyg to Solovki;
13. Death of reverend Zosimus;
14. Apparition of reverend Zosimus to elder Daniel;
15. Reverend Zosimus and Sabbatius pray for the monastery;
16. Miracle of Basil who decorated the monastery;
17. Apparition of reverend Zosimus and Sabbatius as fiery angels to sexton Dionysius  (?);
18. Zosimus and Sabbatius save the man who floated in the sea.
